I am excited to announce the start of a new custom Ruger 10/22 rifle build.
A friend of mine stopped by a local gun shop last week and wouldn’t you know it they was a new Ruger 10/22 sitting in the rack. He called to tell me and I ran right over and picked it up. It isn’t often you hear of anyone having a 10/22 on the shelf these days. Now I have to admit I paid more than what you would normally expect to spend on one but with the way things are going these days, the laws of supply and demand are dictating what things are worth. How much you ask, well it was about $315 out the door. Now that I have it in hand, the hard/fun part starts-deciding what components to use.
Here is how the gun looks now. I can tell you that the only part I intend to keep stock is the receiver and the magazine. Before it ever fires its first shot I will be removing the stock, the barrel, the bolt and the trigger group. They will all find their way to eBay or the forums to be sold I am sure so if any of you are needing parts, leave a comment on what you are interested in and I am sure we can work something out.
My plan is to build a very accurate benchrest target rifle with this gun. It will be used strictly to try and punch that magical one hole 5 shot string we all dream about. In future posts I will be examining the different options I am considering and comparing as well as posting regular updates to the overall project. Because this is my first official build on the website, it will the Ruger1022.info mascot gun.
I am open to any suggestions you all have on what parts I should use on the gun. Leave a comment with your suggestions and hopefully I will include them in future posts.
Thanks and happy shooting.
